The trans-Pacific project of Penelope Esplin (French for Rabbits, Lake South, Grawlixes), Elliot Vaughan (Moth Quartet, CNZ/NZSM Composer in Residence 2024) and Logan Valentine (Moon Lander), Eigenface sound almost tropical as they pay a sonic visit to Te Waipounamu’s sun-dappled holiday destination ‘Twizel‘. Blending radiant melodies, playful rhythmic zig zags and delicately layered instrumentation, the trio add a dash of bittersweet lyrical yearning to the song’s abundant beauty — the accompanying clip contrasting open greenery with guitarist / singer Valentine’s dérive through jostling urban NYC.
Launching their self-titled debut album on 2nd October via Home Alone Records, Eigenface are rallying together for an extensive spring tour of Aotearoa New Zealand, playing at every stop with label mate Michaela Tempers. Experience their latest creation below and join them at the following dates…
“The song grew from being at the beginning of a new journey with someone you love, while knowing you were about to leave a place that had made that moment feel so beautiful” – Logan Valentine
