Focus Features has released a brand new trailer for their upcoming horror release, Werwulf.
From acclaimed writer and director Robert Eggers, the film promises to be his “most visceral and haunting experience yet”, as it follows a harrowing tale of devotion, damnation, and the devil within.
Eggers highly revered genre filmography includes work such as The Witch (2015), The Lighthouse (2019), The Northman (2022), and most recently Nosferatu (2024).
Werwulf boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, which sees the filmmaker reunite with previous collaborators such as Aaron Taylor-Johnson (28 Years Later, Nosferatu), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse, The Northman), Lily Rose-Depp (The Idol, Nosferatu), and Ralph Ineson (The Witch).
Taylor-Johnson stars as a man undergoing a transformation into a beastly creature, while Rose-Depp and Dafoe star as his wife and a knight tasked with eradicating the countryside of wolves, respectively.
The film follows Eggers previous pattern of genre and period pieces, and is set in 13th-century England.
It also follows a similar release pattern to his previous release, Nosferatu, by releasing around the Christmas period. Nosferatu followed the exact same release dates and bagged a total worldwide total of $180 million. The film also received four Oscar nominations.

The game is timed to each of the full moons between September and November 2026 and, according to what Focus revealed, “culminates in a mysterious prize for those who complete all three moons each full moon.”
Werwulf will be released in UK Cinemas on January 1st, 2027.
