Woody Allen’s 51st movie starts shooting in Madrid on October 5th.

Tentatively titled, “Madrid,” the Wanda Vision production will shoot in Spain’s capital with some scenes in Aranjuez.

The cast includes Alexi Wasser (Messy, Girls), alongside Jemima Kirke (Girls, Sex Education), Peter Vives (The Time inn Between, Velvet), Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings, The Equalizer) and Jakob Oftebro (Kon-Tiki, Hamilton).

Madrid will not simply serve as a backdrop, the production says, but will become a character in its own right. The press conference will take place on Thursday, October 1, at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, one of the film’s shooting locations.

Woody wanted to make a movie in New York, but financing was an issue. Europe — France and Spain especially — have been more than willing to have the Oscar winner work in their countries. His last movie, “Coup de Chance,” was shot in France, in French, and received glowing reviews.

It’s amazing he’s giving us one more movie at all. The award winning director-writer-actor turns 91 on November 30th.
