Taylor Sheridan's 3-Part Action Thriller Masterpiece Officially Loses Streaming Crown Ahead of Finale

Taylor Sheridan might currently be the king of TV on Paramount+, but his best show – a three-season action thriller masterpiece – was just dethroned on digital streaming by an unlikely competitor. Yellowstone is easily Sheridan’s biggest series to date, but he’s only improved as a writer and TV producer since then. Landman is a global sensation, and we’re all desperate for the upcoming third season, while the Yellowstone prequels truly put the western back in the franchise. This year’s Dutton Ranch took Yellowstone to the next level, giving two fan-favorite characters, Beth and Rip, the spotlight. But it’s Sheridan’s action masterpiece that’s currently taking over the world. Well… it would be, if it weren’t for one other show.

Season 3 of Lioness (Spec Ops: Lioness, depending on your region) is currently releasing new episodes weekly, exclusively on Paramount+. The network is the exclusive, subscription-based streaming home for Sheridan’s military action thriller. However, the series is also available to purchase digitally. Since Season 3’s debut earlier this year, Lioness has had the Amazon Store charts on lockdown, with two seasons of the show dominating the digital charts. However, Lioness has been pushed down the rankings by a small indie drama/thriller. Lioness is no longer the #1 series on the Amazon Store. Instead, that title belongs to Revealed Secrets, a new self-funded, low-budget drama that is only available on digital streaming.

‘Lioness’ Season 3 Is Still a Global Success

It might have lost the top spot on the Amazon Store, but that’s barely a dent in Lioness‘ legacy as one of Sheridan’s best shows (or, his best show, in this writer’s opinion). Debuting in 2023, the series stars Zoe Saldaña as Joe, who leads the Lioness program, a female-led CIA operation designed to infiltrate the inner circle of high-value targets and draw them out into the open for capture or kill missions.

It took a moment for Lioness to find its feet. Season 1 is the worst reviewed of the three, holding a measly 54% Rotten Tomatoes score. But that jumped up to a staggering 90% for Season 2, followed by 85% for the third season. However, the audience ratings have remained consistent, at roughly 76%. It might not have won everyone over, but compared to the melodrama that Yellowstone occasionally stooped to, Lioness is a tense action thriller through and through. Every episode is filled with twists and turns, big reveals, and dynamic shootouts. The opening scene from the first episode is a masterclass in how to set up a show, and it only gets better from there.

‘Lioness’ Season 4’s Fate Might Have Already Been Revealed

Despite being one of Paramount’s biggest shows to date, the network is still waiting for Season 3 to conclude before officially announcing a fourth season. However, the studio might not have to, as Season 4 of Lioness has been unofficially confirmed by one of its newest staff. “Lily and I have joined LIONESS, Taylor Sheridan’s global smash hit, as writers and supervising producers,” wrote writer Michael Idov in a recent social media post. Given that Season 3 is nearly over, it’s safe to assume he has been hired for the fourth season.
