His latest comments suggest he’s waiting patiently for Lil Durk to be found guilty.
6ix9ine floated the idea of a “going away party” for Lil Durk
Tekashi 6ix9ine isn’t afraid to admit where he is hoping Lil Durk spends the foreseeable future. The rapper appeared on a livestream with DJ Akademiks recently and floated the idea of throwing Lil Durk a “going away” party if he’s found guilty. DJ Akademiks reportedly didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about the invitation.
6ix9ine has trolled Durk repeatedly throughout the trial, using social media to take aim at the rapper. It didn’t begin with his arrest, though. The pattern has been consistent enough that testimony in the case itself has referenced how much online trolling has affected Durk. One witness testified specifically about online narratives around King Von’s death that bothered Durk. “He hated it. People was trolling him… it was getting to him. He didn’t like it,” he told the jury.
6ix9ine’s trolling has become part of the testimony
6ix9ine and Lil Durk have been feuding for years, but the conflict has taken a more serious turn since Lil Durk’s trial began. Testimony from some of Lil Durk’s associates pinpointed “trolling” as a significant stress point for the Chicago-born rapper. During one testimony, 6ix9ine’s name was dropped directly. A witness claimed that 6ix9ine, in particular, trolled Lil Durk mercilessly for not retaliating after King Von’s death.
Witness testimony and Durk’s enemies list reveal weren’t the only times 6ix9ine was mentioned during the trial. A separate DJ Akademiks interview featuring 6ix9ine, in which he criticized Durk for not “sliding” for Von, was approved for use by the prosecution. The interview took place in 2021. The shooting that Durk is accused of arranging took place in 2022. The defense also used portions of the interview.
Why is Lil Durk on trial?
Lil Durk is on trial in federal court in Los Angeles, accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot targeting Georgia rapper Quando Rondo as retaliation for King Von’s death. Prosecutors have spent weeks arguing that the plan led to an August 2022 shooting that took the life of Quando Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson. Durk has pleaded not guilty.
Cooperating witness Kacey “OTF Jam” Hester took the stand to claim Lil Durk promised up to $1 million for Rondo’s death. He claims Lil Durk discussed it with multiple people during a recording session in Atlanta. Hester, who has already pleaded guilty to his role in the shooting, told jurors that the shooting was “sloppy.” No actual money changed hands following the shooting.
The trial remains ongoing. A jury is currently deliberating after hearing closing statements on September 9. No verdict has been reached, and Durk continues to maintain his innocence. If convicted, he faces life behind bars.
Despite a growing list of enemies, Lil Durk apparently has the backing of several big names in the music industry. Reports suggest his legal fees have been covered by people like Drake, Kanye West, 21 Savage, and Young Thug.
