Ken Urker’s comments during a church visit concerned Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s half-brother and sister-in-law the evening before he was found dead. Dylan Blanchard and his wife, Anita, told police that Urker spoke about feeling depressed and upset on September 30. Hours later, he reportedly streamed a silent TikTok Live while driving. When Urker failed to show up for work the next day, the couple joined his boss in checking on him. They found him unresponsive at his Louisiana home on October 1, his 34th birthday.
According to a police report obtained by E! News, Urker attended church with Dylan and Anita at approximately 8:45 p.m. on September 30. The couple later described his behavior to investigators, including remarks that had left them concerned. “They stated Mr. Urker made comments of being depressed and upset,” Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Brandon Smith wrote in the report.
Dylan and Anita also told authorities about a TikTok livestream Urker made later that evening. “They advised he made a TikTok live video at approximately [11 p.m.],” they said. “They advised that he just had the video going while he was driving without him saying anything.”
Their account placed the church visit and the livestream within hours of each other. The report did not provide a verbatim account of Urker’s comments at church beyond describing him as having spoken about being depressed and upset.
The following day, another development prompted them to go to his home.
Ken Urker’s Missed Work Shift Prompted A Check On Him
Urker’s boss, Justin Daigle, told Dylan and Anita that he had not shown up for work on October 1. The couple said that “due to his behavior” the previous evening, and after learning about his absence from work, they decided to “check on him,” according to the police report.
Dylan, Anita, and Daigle went to the residence at approximately 6 p.m. “Dylan Blanchard was able to gain access to Mr. Urker’s bedroom window, due to it being unlocked,” the document stated. “And was able to see Mr. Urker lying on his bed unconscious. Once they realized Mr. Urker was not answering, Mr. Blanchard and Justin Daigle moved the blinds and made entry through the window and located Mr. Urker in his bed, cold to the touch.”
Daigle told police that Urker “was cold and not breathing.”
The discovery came on Urker’s birthday. He had turned 34 that day, just hours after the church visit Dylan and Anita described to investigators.
Police Documented Drug Paraphernalia At The Residence
When deputies arrived at Urker’s home, they found him lying on his back in bed. According to the report, he “appeared to have been there for an extended period of time.” Authorities also documented drug paraphernalia in the bathroom, including syringes and a spoon “next to a brown powdery substance.”
The report described additional items near the bed. “He had a paper towel placed on his left arm with what appeared to be blotches of blood on the paper towel,” Smith wrote. “The handgun on the night stand was holstered laying next to two shot glasses and a syringe. Nothing else inside of the bedroom appeared to be disturbed or moved.”
The sheriff’s office listed the incident as an “overdose.” However, Urker’s official cause of death has not been revealed.
Gypsy Rose Said Ken Was ‘Not In A Good State Of Mind’
Blanchard has also spoken about Urker’s emotional state before his death. “I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” she told PEOPLE. “He was not in a good state of mind lately.” She described struggling to process the news, saying, “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think. I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”
Blanchard and Urker share a daughter, Aurora Raina, who was born in December 2024. The pair reunited earlier that year after an earlier engagement and years apart.
Their relationship first began through correspondence while Blanchard was incarcerated. Urker contacted her after watching a documentary about her life, and they eventually became engaged in 2018. They later separated before reconnecting in April 2024. Earlier reporting said they had split again before his death.
Ken’s Sister Criticized Blanchard’s Response To His Death
As Blanchard shared statements mourning Urker, his sister, Autumn, publicly criticized her response. “We are disgusted with her statements. She hasn’t even called my mother or any of us yet,” Autumn told the Daily Mail.
Autumn also claimed that Blanchard was “to blame” for her brother’s death, saying everything started “because of her.”
Her interview followed Blanchard’s public remarks about a suspected overdose and his recent mental state.
