The Spring and Spruce Speedi Dry Tower XL can dry up to 15kg of wet clothes in one go for as little as 9p per hour.
Shoppers can save £42 on a heated clothes airer, making it a well-timed purchase as the weather turns colder and wetter. The Spring and Spruce Speedi Dry Tower XL is available for £108, reduced from £149.99 at Yimbly – an online marketplace owned by the Daily Star’s parent company, Reach Plc – when the code AUTUMN10 is applied at checkout.
The Speedi Dry boasts 36 heated bars capable of reaching up to 70C, with an adjustable temperature control enabling shoppers to select anywhere between 30C and 70C. It offers space for up to 21.2 metres of laundry or 15kg of wet clothes, while the included heat-insulating cover helps retain warmth around garments to accelerate the drying process.
A timer can be programmed for between one and nine hours before the heater switches off automatically, making it especially convenient for leaving washing to dry overnight. Once laundry day is done, the lightweight airer folds down to a mere 11cm wide for neat storage behind a sofa, under a bed or inside a cupboard.

The drier is said to cost just 6p per hour to run and has a 21.2 metre capacity.
Another option is the Lakeland Tower Airer for £49.99 from Lakeland. This one is a three-tier tower for laundry drying, is said to be ideal for medium family wash loads and offers a 22 metre drying capacity across separate levels.
Dunelm has a 3 Tier Heated Airer for £95 too. It is said to cost approximately 4p per hour to run and offers a 20 metre drying space which is suitable for up to 15kg of washing., reports the Daily Star.
The Spring and Spruce Speedi Dry Tower XL has, however, received strong reviews. On Yimbly, one customer wrote: “Dries washing overnight. I’m very pleased with my airer. Although I’ve not used the electric yet, the size allows my washing to dry overnight.”
Another added: “Fantastic heated airer, very well made and sturdy. The shelves heat up quickly, and can be independently used by slotting them onto the slim vertical bar, where they sit securely. One of the many other great features is that you can drop as many shelves down as you need and hang clothes on hangers on the top cross bar (which isn’t heated) and dry with the cover on, of course don’t exceed the specified weight limit of 15kg!
“The digital control pad is simple! You can choose 0 hours for the timer so it will stay on until you turn it off, or set a timer that goes up in one hour increments, for the unit to stay on for up to 9 hours, such a fantastic feature! The unit temperature can be set between 30 and 70 degrees just by pressing the temperature button, this goes up in 5-degree increments – fab!
“The cover is very nice quality, goes right down to the floor so no heat is lost, there are 2 zips at the front, and the front panel can be rolled up and tied into place. Unlike my winged airer, the design and temperature of this one, along with the quality cover, means I have been able to completely dry full 8kg loads in 3-6 hours, compared to the 18-24 hours I’d got used to! It dries the clothes all around with the cover on, not just the parts that touch the bars. It’s saving me lots of money on drying costs. I’m very impressed, and I definitely recommend investing in one.”
Not everyone was entirely convinced, with one reviewer noting: “It’s ok, but jeans and jumpers take two days with or without cover.”
However, another satisfied customer countered: “Happy with purchase – is as described in the pictures/video. I like having control over temperature and time ‘on’, this was my main reason for buying this particular make, lightweight, folds away (although large as I bought the large one). The only thing on my wish list would be for it to have wheels.”
