Iranian diplomatic missions are turning to Telugu cinema clips for their social media messaging aimed at the United States.
Earlier, one of the Iranian embassies shared a clip from Nandamuri Balakrishna’s “Bhagavanth Kesari” through its social media handle. Now, the Iranian Consulate in Hyderabad has turned to SS Rajamouli’s “Baahubali: The Beginning” to amplify Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s message at the United Nations General Assembly.
Following Pezeshkian’s address at the UN, the Consulate shared a battle sequence from “Baahubali: The Beginning”, drawing a parallel between Amarendra Baahubali’s resistance against the Kalakeya army and Iran’s stated position against external pressure.
The unexpected crossover between geopolitics and Telugu cinema quickly caught attention online.
It remains to be seen whether Iranian diplomatic missions will continue using Telugu film clips for their social media messaging.
