Frustrated shoppers were turned away from Llandudno’s Aldi on Friday as a notice displayed on the entrance stated the shop was shut “until further notice due to unforeseen circumstances”.
The supermarket apologised to shoppers for any inconvenience caused. The unannounced closure was met with online speculation that part of the ceiling had collapsed following Thursday’s torrential downpours, reports NorthWalesLive.

The shop’s exterior was cordoned off with tape and employees were stationed outside to assist arriving shoppers at Mostyn Champneys Retail Park. Employees were seen inside the dimly-lit store.
In 2022 the Llandudno branch shut for five months while refurbishment and extension works took place. The floor space was doubled and the store received a fresh layout.
One shopper said he was informed the outlet could potentially re-open later on Friday.
He said: “The guy on the door said it mainly depends on the contractor – I got a feeling the store might stay shut for a little while longer.
“Most people seemed to accept the situation but a few left disappointed having made special trips to the store.”
The shopper continued: “The Aldi guy said the store had suffered water damage. I got the impression it had come in from the roof.
“Looking from the outside there were no obvious signs of damage. But there were heavy downpours yesterday. Some of the rain was torrential. So maybe that played a part?”.
