Angelina Jolie makes rare comment about raising her 6 children to be ‘individuals’

Angelina Jolie says her six children are “definitely individuals.”

The actress, 51, made rare comments about raising her kids — Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, Zahara, 21, Shiloh, 20, and 18-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne — in a new interview with L’Officiel published Wednesday,

“One of the most important things, I think, is to basically not get in their way,” she said, noting she was “proud” they follow their own paths.

“As a parent, you try to do many things, but you also try to not get in the way of this human being who has a life separate from yours and so much potential in their own mind,” she continued. “You want to make sure that you support them.”

Now that all her kids are adults, Jolie shared that she’s looking forward to doing things for herself — which they fully support.

“I really love and am looking forward to more connection and community. I’m not somebody who vacations or shops or things like that,” she explained. “I envision more field work, more travel, and just being out in the world. Get my motorcycle back, get back in a plane.”

She added, “That’s definitely what my kids want! They had Mom when Mom needed to be Mom. Now, they’d like me to call them from Tunisia having just landed a plane to meet with local artists.”

The “Maleficent” star shared that she would like to live outside the US and be “nomadic for a while.”

“I’m going to get back to doing more hands-on work with my foundation in Cambodia and my field work,” she said. “I don’t really plan to have a base.”

Jolie shares her six kids with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, though the children are estranged from the A-list actor, 62.

Maddox, Shiloh, Zahara and Vivienne have all taken legal steps to remove their dad’s last name.

A source told Page Six in July that Jolie doesn’t want to fight Pitt and “isn’t angry.”

“She just wants everyone to heal,” the source said.

“If people knew the whole truth they would have more sympathy for the children and respect them,” the insider also claimed. “The fact they aren’t speaking ill or sharing things publicly only shows their decency.”

Meanwhile, Pitt has been open about struggling with the aftermath of his divorce from Jolie.

Last month, Pitt said in an interview with Esqure that he was “suicidal” navigating “family stuff” a decade after they split.

“The pain was so oppressive that — I wasn’t going to act on this, but I could feel — I could feel the cold steel of the bullet in my head, and it felt like relief,” the “Fight Club” star told the magazine.

When the reporter asked him if he was dealing with “kid stuff,” he replied, “Family stuff. We could leave it at that.”
