On 50 years of his journey in the industry, Ilaiyaraaja has been honoured with a ceremonial stamp in the Australian Parliament. Expressing his gratitude, Ilaiyaraaja said, “I offer my sincere gratitude to the Honorable Enver Erdogan MP, Minister for Finance, Victorian Government, and the Members of Parliament for having my 50-year journey commemorated through a ceremonial stamp release.”
He said, “Being born in a small, remote village in Tamil Nadu and honored in an Australian Parliament is truly touching.”
He acknowledged, “I also take this opportunity to thank the countless people who gave life to my music, the artists who walked beside me, and generations of listeners who welcomed my compositions.”
His golden jubilee tour, which began in July, has included performances across North America, while his upcoming Australia schedule includes Sydney on September 26 and Brisbane on October 5.
