Excitement is building for the upcoming return of Celebrity Traitors, after the BBC unveiled a first glimpse at the highly anticipated second series this week. The psychological game show, fronted once again by Claudia Winkleman, is scheduled to land on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in autumn 2026.
Following the runaway triumph of the debut series – in which comedian Alan Carr claimed victory – producers have upped the ante for the next instalment, stretching it to a 10-episode run. A formidable lineup of 21 well-known faces descended on Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands back in May this year, with filming completing by June. They all went head-to-head in the ultimate game of deception for a charity prize pot of up to £100,000.
The full cast was officially unveiled just as production got underway on 2 May. Among them are acclaimed actors such as Michael Sheen, Richard E. Grant, Bella Ramsey, Julie Hesmondhalgh, Sharon Rooney, Myha’la and Sebastian Croft, alongside comedians Joe Lycett, James Acaster, Miranda Hart, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan and Joanne McNally.
Broadcasters and presenters also feature in the lineup, including Love Island host Maya Jama, BBC journalist Amol Rajan, investigative presenter Ross Kemp and mathematician Professor Hannah Fry.
Musicians, models and content creators round out the cast, including Little Mix star Leigh-Anne Pinnock, singer-songwriter James Blunt, supermodel and actress Jerry Hall and YouTube creator King Kenny. In the freshly unveiled first-look teaser trailer for The Celebrity Traitors Series 2, presenter Claudia Winkleman was spotted welcoming the star-studded lineup inside the chapel of Ardross Castle.
She strides down the aisle of the chapel where the famous faces are assembled in the pews for the first time and addresses those present by declaring, “A moment of silence for the celebrities gathered today.”
The trailer reveals close-up shots of anxious and petrified expressions from the participants. Well-known personalities featured in the pews include Bella Ramsey, Maya Jama, Romesh Ranganathan, Richard E. Grant, and Rob Beckett.
Before sweeping out of the chapel, Claudia delivers the line, “Thoughts and prayers,” followed by, “Who doesn’t love a dramatic exit?”.
Following the trailer’s release on X, numerous fans couldn’t help but notice Leigh-Anne appeared to be ‘missing’, as they developed a theory.
One supporter exclaimed: “How dare they not show Leigh-Anne when she’s one of the highest tier celebs in the cast,” while another simply questioned: “Where is Leigh Anne?”.
A third speculated: “We only see Leigh-Anne’s hair… she’s either first out or the winner.”
Meanwhile, a fourth added: “BBC choosing a frame where Leigh-Anne isn’t visible, Leigh-Anne avoiding naming the TV show she did ‘filming for’ in her Patreon videos, refusing to say anything other than ‘it was wild’. The hyper-secrecy makes me think she did very well.”
While what unfolded on the programme remains closely guarded, producers and cast members have offered several intriguing clues about what transpired during production.
BBC entertainment director Ed Havard hinted that Series 2 contains enormous gameplay developments and twists that “have never been seen before” on any version of The Traitors.
Speculation doing the rounds online also indicates a substantial recruitment drive occurs in the castle turrets, possibly resulting in as many as seven different Traitors throughout the competition.
Discussing his time on set, Richard E. Grant disclosed he rang Series 1 contestant Celia Imrie for guidance.
She cautioned him about “the cruelty of people who you instinctively want to trust… when suddenly every single person suspects you.”
Romesh Ranganathan also acknowledged he was extremely anxious about keeping secrets and admitted that the experience was far more immersive than he initially expected, describing it as a “pretty amazing experience.”
