Celebrity Traitors star King Kenny’s real name, arrest and YouTube fame

King Kenny joins the BBC’s Celebrity Traitors series two cast – here’s everything you need to know about him

A new line-up of celebrities are making their way to the Scottish Highlands for the second series of The Celebrity Traitors.

Once again, Claudia Winkleman will be back to front the popular BBC gameshow with 21 well-known personalities joining her for ten 60 minute instalments. The Faithfuls and Traitors will compete for a prize fund of £100,000, which will be donated to a charity of their choice.

The cast includes big names like Michael Sheen, Richard E Grant, Jerry Hall, Miranda Hart and Gen Z personality King Kenny who shares an intriguing connection to last series’ Niko Omilana.

So, here’s everything you need to know about the digital content creator.

King Kenny’s actual name is Kenny Ojuederie, though he goes by his stage name of King Kenny on his social media platforms.

He launched his YouTube account in 2013 at just 16 years old with entertainment, vlogs and pranking videos.

Over the years the digital content producer has accumulated 2.25 million YouTube subscribers on his main channel and 449,000 on his More Kenny account. Alongside his impressive YouTube following, he has 777,000 Instagram followers and 673,300 on TikTok.

Three years after starting his YouTube channel, whilst studying media at Brunel University, Kenny was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence. Following a trend at the time, the social media star was filming one of his pranks dressed as an evil clown and wielding a chainsaw around his university campus.

The Sun reported in 2019, that he was arrested and later released on bail.

The internet star apologised, saying: “I’m really nervous. I don’t know what is going to happen. It’s such a mess.

“First of all I want to say a massive sorry to anyone I have scared.

“Secondly, this was a YouTube video. All those people in the video, they were my friends.

“It was a pre-planned thing, and none of the people who I chased were strangers.

“Everyone could see me talking to my friends beforehand.

“There are 400 cameras on the campus and you can check them and see that the people I chased are my friends.

“People are making me out to be a terrorist.”

In 2019, Kenny became the co-founder of the prominent YouTube collective Beta Squad, which also features previous Celebrity Traitors contestant Niko Omilana and internet star Chunkz. They all moved into a mansion in London together, where they created daily social media content.

The collective is recognised for sharing engaging challenge-style content and partnerships with other internet personalities such as KSI. They boast an impressive 11.7 million YouTube subscribers and more than three million TikTok followers.

However, beyond his digital presence, Kenny is also an aspiring boxer.

He was taught how to box by his sibling Daley Perales, who appeared as a Big Brother housemate in 2013.

Kenny entered the ring in 2021 at the YouTubers vs. TikTokers online fighting event, and has subsequently taken part in numerous exhibition and professional bouts since. With notable names including Filipino TikToker Salt Papi, English musician Ashley Rak-Su and American YouTuber and martial artist FaZe Sensei among others.

Earlier this year, the YouTube star announced his retirement from boxing after breaking a rib during a sparring session.

Fans can look forward to watching him switch the ring for the roundtable as he embarks on a new challenge taking part in The Celebrity Traitors this week.
