CHVRCHES have returned with new single ‘Roses’.
The Glasgow band – Lauren Mayberry, Martin Doherty and Iain Cook – have been on an extended break, with each musician embarking on a range of side hustles.
Lauren Mayberry’s excellent solo album last year saw the singer gain praise from fans and critics alike, but she was followed by a perpetual question: how about some new CHVRCHES…?
As it happens, the wait is over. Following weeks of teasers, new single ‘Roses’ is out now.
An all-out blaster that leans in to the band’s shared rock roots while remaining true to their electronic pop palette, ‘Roses’ aims for the jugular.
Signalling the start of a new era, the biting lyrics tap into our modern dystopia, closing with an Orwellian announce: “If I may command your undivided attention, now we can start…”
“This is the longest break we had ever taken between albums and when we got together to write new music, we wanted to really push ourselves and not be retreading ground we’d walked before,” says Lauren Mayberry. “I really think we achieved that. It feels like the most coherent vision we’ve had as a band. We’re excited to be back…”

But there’s more! CHVRCHES have confirmed two headline shows next month. The two shows will be ticketed, with proceeds going to charity.
