As darkness falls over Coombe Abbey, a spectacular Christmas adventure awaits. This November, Luminate returns to Coombe Abbey — Coventry’s historic country estate — for its sixth consecutive year, promising its most interactive trail to date.
In an exciting first, the roof of the Hotel will be illuminated for the very first time. Searchlights will sweep across the grounds and lake in a dazzling display, never previously witnessed, as part of the new Water Light Symphony.
Visitors will embark on their journey at Starfall Bridge, which promises to make a dramatic impression with 360 drops. The installations are crafted by local firm Titan Creative at their workshop in Long Itchinton.
Creative director Dan Bennett said: “It’s so much fun making the installations and props. Our background is in theatre design, but we have worked with the team at Luminate for a few years and this will be our biggest ever commission.
“The Ember Grove is a beautiful installation with 400 flames running along the ground accompanied by music. It’s a thoughtful piece and a moment of reflection amongst all the other WOW moments.”
Within the Enchanted Woodland, charming little creatures — including the much-loved robin redbreast — will guide visitors along the trail. Keep your eyes peeled as the woodland animals come alive throughout this festive season.
The light trail, which has welcomed 1.5 million visitors across the country since its debut in 2019, is an after-dark experience guaranteed to enchant guests of all ages. This year, Luminate returns with a brand-new route and spellbinding installations.
New for 2026 is Christmas Corner, offering the ideal chance to post your letter to Lapland. Listen to the woodland creatures and follow the trail to reach the Luminate Post Office, where you can post your letter and watch it light up.
Visitors will also have the opportunity to control the colours of Luminate’s Dancing Fountains, which are bathed in wintry magic.

“Since we launched our first Luminate at Coombe more than a quarter of a million Christmas memories have been made here, but we know Christmas is more fun when you’re part of the magic, so be sure to join us.”
Along the route, visitors can enjoy mulled wine, hot chocolate and marshmallows toasted over fire pits to ward off the winter chill — all set within a charming Christmas village crafted by the elves. It is the perfect setting to embrace the festive spirit beneath the starlit winter skies.
Coombe Abbey sits within 500 acres of parkland, encompassing gardens designed by Capability Brown and a stunning 80-acre lake. Cllr Kamran Caan, Coventry City Council’s Cabinet Member for Parks, said: “This is a fabulous event and a well-loved feature in the events calendar at Coombe Park. I’ll be visiting myself and hope to see local people of all ages enjoying what it has to offer.
“Coombe is of course one of our many parks, and it is great to see this event and the many activities that you can enjoy across all our parks throughout the year.”
Coombe Abbey will also be staging an extensive programme of Christmas festivities with a New York theme, featuring a festive party night complete with a Statue of Liberty replica and an ice rink-style dance floor, festive afternoon tea with carols, a family lunch with Santa, a festive medieval banquet, a Christmas murder mystery evening, and a New Year’s Eve celebration with fireworks and a Highland piper.
Ron Terry, group operations director at No Ordinary Hospitality, which runs Coombe Abbey Hotel, said: “Christmas at Coombe Abbey is something special. There’s nowhere else in the region quite like it, with the estate lit up after dark and the whole team working to make every visit feel magical.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming families through our gates for Luminate over the festive period, and to seeing them make memories here together that will last long after the lights come down.”
Luminate proudly supports the Lord Mayor’s charities. Guests can bring their four-legged companions on specially designated dog-friendly evenings, and the trail is suitable for wheelchairs, mobility scooters and pushchairs.
There will also be calmer sessions available for those with special educational needs.
