Situated just outside Whitley village, guests also have the opportunity to explore medieval history with its Gothic cathedral and York Minster. The property also has a variety of nearby footpaths that let you explore the surrounding area.
Dragonfly Cottage itself includes an open-plan lounge with an included kitchen and dining area that offers lake views while you enjoy your meals. The property also comes equipped with French doors and multiple windows to let natural light brighten up your stay.
Other facilities include a fully stocked kitchen with an electric oven, hob, fridge, and freezer, as well as a TV to let you wind down on the sofa in the evenings. Overall, Dragonfly Cottage can accommodate up to two people at the same time with one bedroom and bathroom included.
If you would prefer something a little different, you could book a stay at Lovesome Pod near Northallerton from £357 for seven nights. This studio-style living space provides the opportunity for guests to explore nearby markets and high streets as well as the North York Moors National Park.
Otherwise, you could book a stay at Orcaber Farmhouse near Austwick from £1,089 for a seven-night stay. This pet-friendly farmhouse gives the guests the opportunity to take part in a shared picnic beside the nearby river.
Visitors who have already stayed at Dragonfly Cottage praised their stay, with one happy guest writing: “Everything about my holiday was excellent, the cottage, the view and of course the lake. The fishing exceeded my expectations and I was very pleased with the results.

Another added: “Loved our second visit here. The cottage is comfortable, spotless and very well equipped with a beautiful view of the lake. The lake is extremely well maintained. If you are not fishing it’s still a great place to sit and relax and watch the birds. Lots of interesting places to visit within 30-45 minutes drive.”
A third said: “We had a wonderful stay very comfortable , clean and beautiful setting. Friendly hosts very well equipped highly recommended.“
A fourth added: “Friendly welcome on arrival, the cottage was spacious, comfortable and well equipped . Lovely outlook, and fishing on the door step made for a perfect relaxing week. Would definitely make a return visit.”
A fifth said: “Superb cottage. We have been back 6 times and have already booked for next year. An absolute gem with a beautiful fishing lake, loads of wildlife and supermarkets close by.” A sixth added: “The cottage has everything you need for your holiday, we’ll equipped kitchen, lounge, bedroom, bed very comfortable and massive bathroom, excellent.”
However, one other guest noted: “The cottage was excellent and the owners were brilliant. The only downside was that the fishing was disappointing because the water level was low as a result of the exceptional long dry summer.”
Travellers should also note that the cottage doesn’t allow pets, which could be a downside for those who wanted to bring their durry friends with them during their stay.
