Every year, Goose Fair organisers up the ante — and 2026 is no different. The tallest ride the fair has ever had will be heading to Nottingham later this month.
Starflyer fans are no strangers to swing tower rides, which have previously appeared at the fair and Nottingham Beach, in Old Market Square, but Elevate 85 is something else, standing at 280ft (85m tall).
To put it into context, Nottingham’s Council House is a mere 200ft to the top of the dome, while Victoria Centre flats stand 246ft tall.
Elevate 85 has opened at some of the biggest events in Europe, including Berlin in Germany over Christmas and The Hoppings in Newcastle in the summer.
Goose Fair organisers said: “It’s great that this amazing ride is doing Nottingham Goose Fair in three weeks’ time. Elevate 85 will offer stunning views of the fair and the city.”
The annual fair will be bringing more than 350 rides, games and food and drink stalls to Forest Recreation Ground, from Friday, September 25, to Sunday, October 4.
Elevate 85 beats Skyfall, last year’s new freefall drop tower, which takes thrill seekers to the 262ft summit before plummeting back down to earth at 90mph.
Other new rides heading to Goose Fair include Joker Breakdance, a high-speed ride with spinning and tilting cars and as previously reported, Psycho.
One of the most popular rides, Apollo 13 will be returning. Standing at 180ft high with speeds of up to 80mph it was voted by visitors as the best new ride in 2024.
The Top Scan is back — the ride with six rotating gondolas, hurtling around 60ft high. Aerospace, the world’s largest propeller ride that reaches speeds of up to 75mph, will once again be wowing adrenaline junkies.
