Fans of iconic horror franchise Halloween are counting down to the release of the upcoming video game. And the good news is that there’s not long to wait, because Halloween: The Game has a September 8 release date on PS5, Xbox Series consoles and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store). In terms of timings, Halloween: The Game will be available to start playing from 5pm BST for UK fans, or 9am PST / 12pm EST for US gamers.

If you really can’t wait that long, then it’s worth remembering that the Deluxe Edition actually grants early access, which means you can start playing right away, albeit you’ll need to spend an extra £15 for the honour. In addition to early access, the Digital Deluxe Edition comes with the exclusive Inmate Michael Myers Skin, two additional Civilian characters (Alexis & Richard), advance access to the Laurie Strode cosmetic and a digital comic.

Whichever version you purchase, one thing you won’t find in the game is the controversial interactive sex scene, which was removed in a recent hotfix.

The interactive sex scene was a chance to gain a stat boost for your civilian characters. It would trigger when two civilian characters hid in the same wardrobe.

However, the development team removed the mini-game after discovering a glitch that allowed reinforcement characters like Samuel Loomis could take part in the scene.

Studio Illfonic explains more: “Players may have noticed that our latest hotfix removed the Two-Person Power-Up minigame.

“This was due to an unintended issue that allowed end game reinforcement characters to engage with the minigame, which was a major oversight on our part.”

The statement suggests that the controversial mini-game could make a return at a later date.

In the meantime, fans can enjoy a selection of single-player and multiplayer game modes and maps at launch.

Dubbed ‘The Night He Came Home’, the solo mode sees players hunt prey as iconic villain Michael Myers.

Multiplayer, on the other hand, features similar asymmetrical action as games like Friday the 13th and Killer Klowns from Outer Space.

One person plays as Michael Myers, while the other four players control civilian characters looking to survive.

Maps available at launch include Haddonfield Town Center, Haddonfield Heights, Orange Grove Estates and East Haddonfield.
