Jailer 2 team breaks silence on release date and censor rumors – Telugu Cinema

Jailer 2

Several rumors have been doing the rounds about Rajinikanth’s “Jailer 2”, ranging from censor issues and Telugu distribution rights to pending work and a possible postponement. It is unusual for a Rajinikanth film to face so much speculation, particularly after multiple delays surrounding the project.

The latest buzz is that “Jailer 2” may not arrive in theatres on October 15 and that the makers are considering other release dates. There were also reports that the team was considering trimming a few violent sequences to secure a U/A certificate, with the initial response from the Censor Board reportedly leaning towards an A certificate.

However, the “Jailer 2” team has now clarified that it is not backing off from the announced October 15 release date. The makers are also reportedly not planning to tone down the film to make it more universally appealing.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, “Jailer 2” is the sequel to the blockbuster “Jailer”, which featured Rajinikanth as a retired police officer leading a seemingly ordinary middle-class life while taking care of his grandson. The film, however, had several larger-than-life moments that connected strongly with audiences.

“Jailer 2” will also face competition at the box office from Rajinikanth’s former son-in-law Dhanush with “OM” and Vijay Deverakonda’s “Ranabaali”, both of which are also scheduled around the same period.
