Keerthy Suresh is set to enter the OTT space with Akka, an intense period crime thriller also featuring Radhika Apte. Set in 1980s South India, the series explores a fictional town called Pernuru, where powerful women control the criminal underworld. The project marks Keerthy’s streaming debut.
Written and directed by debutant Dharmaraj Shetty, Akka revolves around a powerful sisterhood of gangster queens whose established order faces an unexpected threat. Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte headline the series, with Tanvi Azmi and Anshumaan Pushkar also appearing in important roles.
Akka has reportedly locked October 30, 2026 as its Netflix premiere date. The series was announced in November 2023 and has been in production for nearly three years. Bollywood Hungama reported the October 30 premiere, while Netflix and YRF’s official page currently provide the project details.
Produced by YRF Entertainment, Akka promises a gritty combination of revenge, power struggles, violence and survival. The arrival of an outsider threatens Pernuru’s women-led criminal empire, triggering betrayals and a fierce battle for control. The series also marks Keerthy and Radhika’s first collaboration, making the Netflix release highly anticipated.
