The streets of Leamington will be filled with vibrant colour and hymns this weekend as Nagar Kirtan takes place.
The Sikh community of Leamington, Warwick, Kenilworth and the surrounding villages will come together to commemorate the historic milestone. Nagar Kirtan marks the anniversary of the passing of Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
And members of the public are invited to watch, celebrate and experience the rich cultural tradition.
The main event is a parade. It takes place on Sunday, October 4, with the procession leaving from Gurdwara Sahib car park in Tachbrook Park Drive at 11am.
There will be rolling road closures in place and the procession is estimated to return to the car park at around 2.30pm.

- Kingsway
- Tachrook Road
- Queensway
What is a Nagar Kirtan?
A Nagar Kirtan is a traditional Sikh processional custom where holy hymns are sung aloud throughout the neighbourhood.
- The Leadership: The procession is led by five saffron-robed Sikhs known as the Panj Pyare (the Five Beloved Ones).
- The Float: They are followed by a beautifully decorated float carrying the Guru Granth Sahib Ji , the eternal and sovereign Guru of the Sikhs.
- The Congregation: Musicians and hymn singers surround the float, followed by hundreds of members of the congregation on foot.
