NCIS: New York: Brian Dietzen To Play Jimmy Palmer In Crossover

The “NCIS” franchise is adding a new show this fall with “NCIS: New York” — and it’s getting right to work bringing in some old favorites.

“NCIS” cast member Brian Dietzen will guest-star on “NCIS: New York,” reprising his role as medical examiner Jimmy Palmer, “New York” executive producer Byron Balasco shared with reporters at CBS’s virtual press day on Wednesday. And that’s not all: “So much of the DNA of this show was family, and we’re all in the same universe, so you can absolutely expect to see some familiar faces coming over to hang out with us for a while,” Balasco added.

So does that mean we might see some of Sam Hanna’s old friends from “NCIS: Los Angeles” pop in, like Chris O’Donnell’s G. Callen? “He definitely does tap in with Callen from time to time,” LL COOL J, who returns as Sam on “NCIS: New York,” reveals, “so those relationships are still alive. Byron and all of us have have spoken about welcoming characters from the other iterations of the franchise to New York, to be a part of what we’re doing. So I definitely welcome crossovers with all of the past characters that have been a part of this universe.”

“NCIS: New York,” first announced in April, stars LL COOL J, reprising his “NCIS: Los Angeles” role as special agent Sam Hanna. “Hawaii Five-0” alum Scott Caan co-stars as Sam’s new partner Nick Schaeffer. Jennifer Beals (“The L Word”) plays Sam and Nick’s superior Robyn Wells, with Jacqueline Byers (“Dark Winds”) as special agent Addy Ross, Shane Harper (“Power Book IV: Force”) as special agent Wyatt Sellers, and Devin Druid (“13 Reasons Why”) as tech whiz Sean Sullivan. “NCIS: New York” debuts Tuesday, October 6 at 9 p.m. on CBS, airing between the original “NCIS” and prequel “NCIS: Origins.” (Check out our full calendar of fall TV premiere dates here.) The official series description reads: “Legendary NCIS Agent Sam Hanna returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office, partnering with a roguish agent and helping lead a new team as they are tasked with high-stakes missions to defend one of the most vital cities and ports in the world.”
