Fans are welcoming the few bits of info that have yet to be released by DC about the mockumentary comedy series, The People v. Gorilla Grodd, that takes the super intelligent villain Grodd and drops him into a true-crime murder investigation.
The eight-episode first season at HBO will star Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Jimmy Tatro as Gorilla Grodd, along with Superman supporting players Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Wendell Pierce as Perry White. Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Arian Moayed, Dan Perrault, Andrew Leeds, and Tim Baltz are also on board in undisclosed roles.
While a previous rumor has claimed that the series will also feature the DCU debuts of Heather Kelley and the Newsboy Legion, that has not been confirmed. And now a new rumor has given us a few more names to possibly expect to see on the cast list.
Former Nexus Point News reporter @ApocHorseman is reporting (via CBM) that the Justice Gang will return. The report claims Sean Gunn, Edi Gathegi, and Isabela Merced are set to reprise their respective Superman roles as Maxwell Lord, Mister Terrific, and Hawkgirl, respectfully.
They’re only expected to be one-episode guest stars, and there’s currently no word on whether they’ll be joined by Nathan Fillion‘s Guy Gardner.
The People v. Gorilla Grodd follows a superintelligent ape who is convicted of murdering his father, the King of Gorilla City. In an eight-part “true” crime docuseries, the Daily Planet’s Jimmy Olsen reopens the case, investigating whether Gorilla Grodd was wrongly convicted in one of Metropolis’ most famous murder trials.
The series does not have a release date yet, but we will let you know as soon as more news becomes available.
