Popular Leicestershire cafe issues important update on its future

Owners said lots of thinking led to a ‘change of heart’

A “wonderful” Leicestershire cafe has made a U-turn following a tough decision which saw it close with immediate effect.

Bosses of The Green House Coffee Shop, located in the North West Leicestershire village of Thringstone, announced its closure on Thursday, September 3.

Carly and Danny, who also run the Gardeners’ Rest tea room at Thurlaston Garden Centre, said that managing two businesses at once had become “very difficult”.

However, just over a week on, owners announced a u-turn on the decision, with the cafe remaining open.

Carly said that she and Danny were “not ready to say goodbye” in an update shared on Friday, September 11.

She said: “Super exciting news from The Green House – we are not closing our doors.

“After lots of thought, I’ve had a change of heart, and I couldn’t be happier to say that The Green House Coffee Shop is staying.

“I’ve decided not to rent or sell the business. The truth is, The Green House is where my heart is.

“It’s more than just a coffee shop – it’s something I’ve poured so much love into, and I’m just not ready to say goodbye.

“So this isn’t the end, it’s a fresh new chapter!”

Carly said customers can expect “beautiful” food and the atmosphere that people love.

She has invited families and friends to gather there to celebrate its reopening later on this week.

Carly added: “We would absolutely love to welcome you all back through our doors for beautiful food, great coffee, cosy catch-ups and that Green House atmosphere we all love.

“If you haven’t visited us for a while, come back and see us! Bring your friends, bring your family, pop in for a coffee and help us make The Green House busier and better than ever.

“To everyone who has supported us, sent lovely messages and shown us how much The Green House means to you – thank you.

“The doors are staying open, and we are so excited for what’s ahead.”

The coffee shop, located in The Green, is to reopen from 10am on Friday, September 18.

Customers have been “so pleased” to hear that the coffee shop will continue.

One customer said: “That’s great to hear. I was gutted I missed the opportunity to bring my boys to sample your wonderful cakes.”

Another resident in the area added: “So pleased. It’s a lovely little coffee shop and food is absolutely fantastic and lovely service you get.”

A third customer said: “Wonderful news and wishing you all the best.”

Another added: “We are so pleased you’ve decided to stay. You’re such an asset to the village.”

A fifth local said: “That’s good news. Only just discovered this little gem will definitely be coming with my hubby.”
