Prince William is reportedly furious over Meghan Markle’s alleged involvement in Prince Harry’s possible Diana project. A source told HeatWorld that the Prince of Wales hates the idea of Markle working behind the scenes.
The insider said, “And of course, it makes him even more irate to imagine Meghan in the background, pulling strings like some type of glorified puppet-master and doubtless loving every bit of pain that he and other senior royals are going through.”
Harry is reportedly looking at several ways to honor Princess Diana on her 30th death anniversary in 2027. A documentary about his mother is one idea on the table. But so far, nothing has been confirmed. According to The Independent, the proposed film would be made by Archewell Productions and would likely go to Netflix under the companies’ first-look deal.
Harry has reportedly contacted friends and relatives of his mother, including Earl Spencer, about taking part. Potential contributors have been described as “talking heads.” “There’s not a shred of doubt in William’s mind” about their possible collaboration, the insider said. The source alleged they would be “colluding on whatever documentary or movie” Harry pursued.
The insider also claimed Harry could draw heavily from Spencer’s memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister. “In fact, it wouldn’t surprise him in the slightest if he pulls a good deal of the material from their uncle’s book for that project,” the tipster stated. That possibility, the source said, “would surely incense the King.”
They called it a “highly risky strategy” for Harry’s reported efforts to make peace with his family. Meanwhile, the BBC reportedly has old Diana material. A television source told RadarOnline, “There is an extraordinary amount of Diana material sitting in the BBC’s archives.”
The source added, “An abandoned BBC documentary on her is particularly fascinating because it was made for the 10th anniversary of her death and then disappeared. Twenty years later, with William and Harry separately discussing their mother, the circumstances are completely different.”
The publication scrapped the documentary over concerns about its relationship with King Charles. But old recordings could still have a future. “Nobody is suggesting the BBC simply dusts off the scrapped project and broadcasts it unchanged,” the insider continued. “But the recordings and research potentially offer an extraordinary historical record that could be reconsidered as part of something new.”
The source also pointed to William, Harry, and Spencer approaching Diana’s legacy from “different perspectives around the same anniversary.” On the September 24 episode of The Royalist podcast, royal expert Tom Sykes claimed Harry wants to make “millions” from a proposed documentary.
“They’re not just trying to set up a normal U.K. life. They are trying to gather content for a Diana film. That is what they’re doing here. They are back here to make that film. They are back here to make millions and millions of dollars out of that film,” he said of Harry and Markle’s decision to return to the U.K.
He also claimed the controversy could help the project attract attention and money. “And how do they guarantee that that film, you know, really generates lots of heat, that Netflix bid lots and lots of money for it? They create loads and loads of controversy around themselves,” he alleged. Sykes then added, “It’s all conflict. It’s all stirring up interest.”
