‘Lovely non-slip runner. Easy to clean and looks good in the space’
The worry with having a rug in the kitchen or high-traffic areas, like a hallway, is that it could be easily ruined by muddy shoes and food stains. But Dunelm has a solution to this with a £32 rug that is ideal for cold kitchen floors and hallways, and it can be machine-washed without compromising its quality.
The Marvel Printed Arts and Crafts Floral Washable Runner comes in four different colours – grey, red, blue and green – and is covered in a floral pattern that adds whimsy to a space. Made with ‘soft, luxurious’ pile, the rug measures at W 50cm x L 150cm and is relatively lightweight at 1.45 kg (making it easy to move around if need be).
It comes with an anti-slip backing, so it shouldn’t move around too much when walking on it. But perhaps its most desirable detail is that it can be washed easily.

Making it ‘as practical as it is pretty’, the rug is made from 100% Nylon and can be popped in the washing machine when it needs a good clean – rather than scrubbing it by hand. Although for smaller spillages where the washing machine isn’t needed, it ‘cleans perfectly’ with a quick mop up, as one shopper reported.
They said: “I am very pleased with the rug, which adds a stylish yet practical touch to the cold floor in my kitchen. Today, I managed to drop a bottle of dark coloured wood wax, which puddled on my beautiful new rug! I quickly mopped it up and – using lots of detergent – was delighted that the rug cleaned perfectly. I was amazed and very relieved!”

Washable rugs have become highly popular in the last few years due to their practicality and time-saving washing, so it’s no surprise that there is a range of alternative designs on the market for anyone who prefers a different print. For example, the Natural Washable Geometric Tile Runner from Next costs between £30 and £60, depending on size. It’s decorated in a tile-print design and comes in a neutral brown colourway.
For shoppers who don’t mind spending a little extra, Ruggable has a gorgeous range of rugs, including its Orla Tan Rug (£159), which features a whimsical scallop pattern and a soft, comfortable tufted texture that is allegedly water-resistant and spill-proof.
Dunelm’s Marvel Printed Arts and Crafts Floral Washable Runner, however, has proven a hit with homeware buffs, earning a 4.8-star rating from shoppers who love its ‘stylish’ print and ease of cleaning. One user raved: “Lovely non-slip runner. Easy to clean and looks good in the space.”
Someone else echoed: “Very stylish. I love the navy blue and the pattern. I have washed the [rug] several times and it looks like new each time.” A third added: “I bought 3 of these for my hallway to look like a continuous runner. Machine washable though, as it’s a high traffic area. Very happy with my purchases.”
Although not everyone was quite as pleased. While the design was loved by all reviewers, one shopper deducted a star due to its price. They justified this decision with a review that read: “These are attractive rugs, but they are expensive for the way they are finished.
“I have a longish hall, so I bought two to replace my previous summer rugs, also from Dunelm. The previous rugs were possibly not of such good quality material, but their edges were bound. The edges of the new rugs are thicker and have a better non-slip backing, but they are not bound or finished, and one edge is already coming away a little after a week’s use. £32 each? A high price. I expected the edges to be better finished.”
That said, they concluded: “They do look good, though.”
