Murex returns with new single ‘Mothers Bells’.
The Swedish multi-disciplinary artist is a key figure in her country’s music scene, a potent producer and collaborator. New album ‘Inventio’ offers a widescreen take on her avant pop vision, and it lands on September 25th via Young.
A flurry of previews have gone online, with Murex acting as producer, performer, and also visual artist – she directs her own video.
New single ‘Mothers Bells’ has a moving quality, a non-judgemental space for emotion and memory to coalesce. There’s no outcome here, no direct message – she throws the pieces down and lets them sit where they may.
“These bells, hung up so high so I could always see them, were leading me the right way,” Murex explains.
“I never wanted to make a record that comes up with the answers or solutions,” Murex adds. “It is most about wanting to understand, connect, and forgive.”
