Production on the anticipated The Batman Part II is taking a temporary pause in production as director Matt Reeves is stepping away due to a “family matter” according to DC Studios.
Filming began in June and was currently taking place in London. DC did not go into details, but they said Reeves’ stepping away from production is temporary as he attends to his family.
“Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter,” DC Studios’ statement said. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.

The Batman Part II has been hit with several production issues as it has been delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA/WGA strikes and a previous personal issue with Reeves which this might be related to. It is too soon to tell if this temporary break will delay the film any further from its current release date of February 18, 2028 so we will have to wait for more updates. In the meantime, we hope everything with Reeves’ family is okay.
The Batman Part II sees Robert Pattinson return as Batman/Bruce Wayne alongside Jeffrey Wright as Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred and Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb/The Penguin. The new cast includes Scarlett Johannson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch and Brian Tyree Henry.
