Yash’s “Toxic” has been generating considerable buzz and is the only major pan-Indian film from the South scheduled to hit theaters this season. The Telugu version’s distribution rights were acquired by Dil Raju’s SVC banner.
Dil Raju has reportedly already applied for a ticket price hike for “Toxic” in Andhra Pradesh, with the state government expected to grant permission, as it has been doing for several big-ticket pan-Indian and star-driven films.
However, the situation in Telangana is different. In recent months, Telugu producers have largely stayed away from seeking ticket price hikes in the state, particularly over the last two to three months.
Dil Raju reportedly believes “Toxic” deserves premium ticket pricing in Telangana as well, given the film’s scale and the potential demand during its opening weekend. He is said to be making efforts to convince the Telangana government to approve a hike.
The Revanth Reddy-led Congress government in Telangana does not have a clearly defined policy for ticket price hikes. While some films have received permission without much difficulty, others have faced hurdles in securing the necessary government order.
As the president of the Telangana Film Development Corporation, Dil Raju is now reportedly trying to make a case for a ticket price hike for Toxic. It remains to be seen whether the state government will agree to his request.
