UK’s best theme park for families revealed and it’s just 2 hours from Bristol

Looking for a fun autumn day out for all the family? A theme park that’s less than a two hour drive has just been crowned the best in the UK, and younger kids will especially love one of its lands

The UK theme park awards has crowned the best attractions in the UK, and for Bristolians with kids there’s good news, the best theme park in the whole country is just a short drive away.

The Best Theme Park for Families award was broken down into large and small parks, and winning the away for the best large theme park for people with kids was Paultons Park in Hampshire, perhaps best known as being the home of Peppa Pig World.

The themed land was one of the factors behind the theme park also taking home the title of the Best Theme Park for Toddlers. In fact, overall the attraction took home 11 awards over a number of categories, including the coveted Theme Park of the Year title.

Paultons Park opened back in 1983, and it added Peppa Pig World in 2011, making it a haven for toddlers and preschoolers who love the adventures of the often sassy Peppa and her family. It includes rides such as Grandpa Pig’s Boat Trip and Windy Castle, as well as character meet and greets and other themed fun.

Its also been expanding its offering to older teenagers and adults, adding new rides in recent years. Valgard: Realm of the Vikings opened in May offering three new rides including the park’s first inverting rollercoaster, Drakon, which took home Best New Attraction. Vild Swing swings riders 12 metres in the air, while Raven is a bobsled coaster with lots of sharp twists and turns. It also has a Viking-themed playground for younger kids who are along with their families.

Its other areas include Critter Creek, a dinosaur-themed land called the Lost Kingdom, and Tornado Springs which has an American theme.

Other awards won by the Hampshire park include Best Christmas Event, which it won for A Celebration of Christmas, Best Customer Service, and Best Social Media Content. Paultons also took home a Silver for Best Landscaped Theme Park.

While Paultons Park won the Gold awards, LEGOLAND Windsor took Silver for Best Theme Park for Families, while Chessington World of Adventures Resort took Bronze.

And the runners up for Best Theme Park for Toddlers (large) were LEGOLAND’s DUPLO Valley, followed by Drayton Manor Resort which is host to Thomas Land. Another south west park, Crealy, took home six awards. This included the Best Theme Park for Toddlers (small) for its Sooty Land, which includes themed rides and live shows based on the long-running series.
