Superstar Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are teaming up with director SS Rajamouli for the ambitious sci-fi adventure “Varanasi”. Rajamouli is aiming to take the film to the global market, particularly Hollywood, and has been actively promoting the project through interviews and podcasts with international media.
The filmmaker has now revealed an interesting detail about the film’s storyline.
“Varanasi” features a time-travel concept, with Mahesh Babu playing a common man named Rudra. Through time travel, Rudra travels back to the Ramayana era, where Mahesh Babu will also be seen as Lord Rama.
However, the Ramayana portion will not be presented as one long episode in the film. Rajamouli clarified that, unlike the historical portions in “Magadheera” or the extended flashback portions in the “Baahubali” films, the Ramayana war sequence will not appear as one continuous block.
Instead, the Ramayana portions will be divided into smaller sub-plots and incorporated into the main narrative at different points. The episodes will appear according to the context and requirements of the story.
This means the Ramayana is expected to be an integral part of “Varanasi”, rather than a separate episode that appears at one particular point in the film.
