
Veteran Kannada actor Anant Nag will be honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2024 for his contribution to Indian cinema. The award will be presented at the 72nd National Film Awards ceremony in Gujarat on September 22, 2026.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Anant Nag on the honour.
He wrote on X, “Congratulations to the legendary Anant Nag Ji on being conferred the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. For several decades, his effortless performances, remarkable versatility and brilliance have left a very strong mark on Indian cinema, particularly Kannada cinema. In whichever role he has played, he brought rare depth and authenticity. This is indeed a richly deserved honour for a truly distinguished artist.”
Anant Nag has appeared in over 300 films, with more than 250 of them being Kannada productions. For the current generation of audiences, he is also widely recognsed for his role in the “KGF” films.
Though primarily associated with Kannada cinema, Anant Nag has also acted in Telugu films, including Nithiin’s “Bheeshma” and Ram Gopal Varma’s “Raatri”.
