lustr has shared his latest single ‘you bet.’
Released via next-gen indie label Pack Records, the artist-slash-producer situates himself among sleaze-era acoustics and serves a hungover take on pop music that verges on the electronic.
Hailing from New York’s underground, the track pins down lustr’s maximalist production and introduces listeners to his hype-fuelled debut EP, ‘reno’.
Over eight tracks, the project spends its time on the outskirts of Las Vegas, bouncing ideas off dated hotel rooms, gas stations, airports and casinos, scratching beyond the city’s glitz-n-glamour surface.
The result is a gritty world-building exercise that extends lustr’s work into the visual realm, stepping in as a creative director across the project. Inspired by high-fashion editorials, the artist toys with contrast and deals in sun-bleached dreamscapes; think industrial textures, untucked shirts and widescreen motorways.
‘reno’ will land on November 20th.
