‘Magical’ UK getaway from £25-per-night with ‘must-visit’ autumn walks

The holidays tailored to adults offer activities and entertainment for grown-ups at parks across the UK surrounded by scenic walks

Many of us may already be missing our sun-soaked summer holidays – but for those already feeling in need of another break, autumn can be the perfect time for a peaceful getaway in the UK. And one holiday park group has designed breaks for adults to kick back and relax at locations across the UK surrounded by beautiful beaches and calming countryside.

Parkdean Resorts is offering holidays from £99 for four nights, including Grown-Up Getaways specially tailored to adults. With destinations spanning the lochs and beaches of Scotland to the Lake District and the coastlines of England and Wales, these breaks are designed to keep the grown-ups entertained with a schedule of activities and entertainment just for them outside of school holidays.

Those taking a Grown-Up Getaway can hone their creative talents with painting, pottery, mosaic art and jewellery making at their Parkdean Resorts site of choice, after starting their day with a swimming or yoga class or spending the afternoon playing pool, darts, board games or even archery. Meanwhile, there are rock ‘n’ roll shows and country nights to look forward to by way of live entertainment, alongside bingo, quizzes, karaoke, and murder mystery events.

With more than 40 destinations to choose from, the number one Parkdean Resorts site in the UK based on TripAdvisor reviews is Fallbarrow Holiday Park, situated on the shores of Lake Windermere in the Lake District. Several reviews have singled out this holiday park as being particularly suited to an autumn break.

One visitor wrote in a five-star review: “Another amazing stay! If you haven’t visited Windermere in autumn you really must. We stayed in a lodge with a view of the lake this time and it was so magical.”

With more than 40 locations to choose from across the UK, Grown-Up Getaways offer activities for adults outside of school holidays, and all-inclusive packages are also available.

Further down the country, another popular choice among families is Warmwell Holiday Park in Dorset, which earlier this year was voted the best of Parkdean Resorts offering by Mumsnet users. This fun-filled site is home to an all-weather ski slope, a heated indoor pool with a wave machine and waterslide, a roller rink, a high-ropes course and a climbing wall.

Its woodland setting offers plenty by way of outdoor pursuits too, while the spectacular Jurassic Coast is also nearby with the iconic Durdle Door, the National Trust’s Ringstead Bay, and the family favourite Weymouth Beach all a 20-minute drive away or less. Reviews of Warmwell Holiday Park on TripAdvisor have branded it “great for an autumn break”, with one person who visited in October branding it “fantastic” while a guest in November described their lodge as “warm and cosy”.

Elsewhere in southern England, St Minver Holiday Park Cornwall is a highly rated option in the grounds of an old manor house surrounded by woodland and just a stone’s throw away from three beaches. “What we love about booking in November is the beautiful colours of autumn surrounding the site,” one visitor said of St Minver in a TripAdvisor review.

The potential impact of the autumn weather is worth bearing in mind, however, with one person who stayed at the Whitley Bay Holiday Park just outside Northumberland feeding back: “The mud around the site this October was an issue.”

Despite this, several reviews of this North East holiday park have singled it out as a “wonderful” place to go in the autumn months, with another visitor praising: “Amazing autumn break. A small quiet site ideally positioned for fantastic coastal walks. It is teeming with wildlife and I was fortunate to see lots of seals and their pups every day at St Mary’s Lighthouse.”

Another choice for UK holiday parks is Haven, which is inviting visitors to its Haunted Haven season this Halloween when its holiday parks will be offering activities and entertainment with a spooky twist. With more than 30 locations to choose from, prices for a Halloween-themed break start from £65 for four nights.

A different option is Forest Holidays, which can be found in 13 UK forests stretching from Deerpark in Cornwall right up to Strathyre in Stirling. Each lodge at these sites comes with a hot tub, with one to five-bedroom options available for couples’ retreats or family holidays, The Mirror reports.

Back at Parkdean Resorts, there are various accommodation options to choose from at each site, from lodges and caravans to glamping pods, safari tents and cottages with hot tubs, while restaurants, bars, takeaway options and on-site supermarkets at each park provide plenty of places to eat and drink. Holidaymakers seeking a stress-free break can book all-inclusive packages at the majority of Parkdean Resorts sites across the UK too.

All-inclusive holidays are available on selected four-night Monday arrival stays at 45 parks, as well as on selected three-night weekend breaks at 14 parks across the UK, with packages starting from £100 per adult and £40 per child. These breaks include three restaurant meals a day, unlimited soft drinks and Costa Coffee, plus plenty of choice on dedicated kids’ menus.
