A popular restaurant in Cheshire which has previously been named the best in the country has announced they will be opening their first restaurant in Greater Manchester.
Italian restaurant Giuliano, which is based in Handforth, was named the Best Restaurant in England at the renowned England Business Awards two years ago. It was also named the Best Restaurant in Cheshire in both 2023 and 2024.
Drawing inspiration from the isles of Sicily, the restaurant originally opened in 2012 and was taken over by owner Lulzim Culaj seven years later. He has transformed the venue from a struggling spot to something that is now recognised on a national level.

Lulzim, who is originally from Albania, previously said that winning the two big awards was recognition of the restaurant’s ‘exceptional service, delicious food, and warm atmosphere’.
The menu of its Cheshire restaurant features the likes of stonebaked pizzas, pasta, risotto, fish and meat including chargrilled veal, lamb chops in red wine and garlic sauce, beef fillet, and the popular Pollo Milanese.
It has now been announced that Giuliano will open a second spot in the Stockport village of Bramhall in October. Set to take over the former Trunk Lounge on Bramhall Lane South, the restaurant is due to open on October 19 following a full transformation of the site.
In an announcement, owners said: “We’re incredibly excited to be opening our second Giulianao restaurant very soon.
“From our authentic Italian food and welcoming atmosphere to becoming two-time winners of Best Restaurant in Cheshire and Best Restaurant in England, our journey has only been possible because of your incredible support.
“To everyone who has dined with us, celebrated with us and continued to choose Giuliano, thank you. We can’t wait to welcome both familiar faces and new guests to Giulianao Restaurant Bramhall.”
The news excited many of the restaurant’s loyal customers, as well as those closer to the new location in Greater Manchester. One person said: “Amazing news!!! Congratulations!!! Best restaurant EVER!!” Another said: “Congratulations, hope it does well.” One other posted: “My favorite restaurant. Delighted you’re coming to Bramhall.” Another said: “Fantastic love your restaurant.”
Earlier this month, Bramhall also welcomed the arrival of Mexican restaurant Casa Papi, from former Coronation Street actor Maximus Evans. Opened on Woodford Road, the ‘fast casual’ dining spot serves a range of slow-cooked Birria beef, sweet potato tacos and salad bowls.
Sharing in their delight at the forthcoming arrival of Giuliano, the team at Maximus’ restaurant added: “Amazing news…. we have just opened Casa Papi Bramhall and the support from the community has been amazing… we will be sure to call in x.”
