Star Trek: The Original Series Officially Returns October 2026

2026 is a monumental year for Star Trek, as the franchise hits its 60th anniversary since Star Trek: The Original Series first aired back in 1966. What began as a relatively short-lived science fiction series ultimately became one of the most influential franchises in television history, establishing a universe that has continued expanding across television, film, books, games, and countless other mediums.

Led by William Shatner’s legendary Captain James T. Kirk, Leonard Nimoy’s Spock, and DeForest Kelley’s Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, The Original Series introduced audiences to the USS Enterprise and its mission to explore strange new worlds while tackling themes that were frankly well ahead of the series’ time. Although the show initially lasted only three seasons, it grew tremendously popular in syndication, eventually inspiring feature films and numerous follow-up series.

Six decades later, nearly every era of Star Trek still traces its roots back to the characters, ideas, and optimistic vision established by The Original Series, and fans will be able to celebrate that legacy properly with an incredible upcoming release (via Looney Labs).

Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and the rest of the Star Trek: The Original Series crew are heading back to the tabletop this fall, with Looney Labs officially bringing Star Trek Fluxx back into circulation. Originally released in 2018 and out of print for years, the card game lets players take command of the Enterprise while encountering familiar threats like Klingons, Romulans, and the Doomsday Machine.

Other cards in Star Trek Fluxx reference memorable pieces of franchise history as well, including Fizzbin and Venting the Warp Core, while players collect the Keepers necessary to complete their current Goal and win the game.

The relaunch is part of a much larger celebration for Star Trek‘s 60th anniversary, with Looney Labs launching a limited reprint of all four of its original standalone Star Trek Fluxx games, bringing the OG series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager Fluxx versions out of the company’s vault and back into stores beginning October 20, 2026.

The entire revival is specifically being done to commemorate the franchise’s anniversary and will coincide with the launch of the brand-new Star Trek: Lower Decks Fluxx, effectively giving fans versions covering five different eras of Trek at once. The returning Original Series edition carries an MSRP of $25.

Fluxx itself is built around simple rules that constantly change during a game: everyone begins with the basic instruction to draw one card and play one card, but new Rule cards can alter how many cards players draw, play, or keep in their hands. Goals determining the victory conditions can similarly change throughout a match, making every game unpredictable and new.

If you’re looking for a unique and fun way to celebrate Star Trek‘s 60th anniversary with friends or family, the relaunch of Fluxx and the new Strange New Worlds release are a great way to do so.
